Women's Basketball Mauls Panthers In Melbourne

Bucs improve to 14-7 on the season

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers improved to 11-6 in the Sunshine State Conference women's basketball standings with a 65-44 mauling of Florida Tech on Wednesday night in the Clemente Center.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - The Bucs jumped out to the early lead and never let up. Barry built a 10-point lead just 4:35 into the game on a triple by Harriet Swindells.  | Bucs 16, Panthers 9
  • 2Q - After the Panthers closed to just seven points to end the first, Barry pushed the elad back to double figures for good on a three-pointer from Chiara Fusari with 6:48 left in the period, and Ashliegh Pink scored the next five points on a jumper and trey to give the Bucs their biggest lead of the half. | Bucs 37, Panthers 22
  • 3Q - The third period was pretty even, as the team exchanged baskets. But Barry scored the last four points on buckets from Camilla Flefil and Aaliyah Forman. | Bucs 51, Panthers 32
  • 4Q - Back-to-back baskets for Forman gave Barry its largest lead at 23 points to start the frame. The Panthers cut it to 18 points on a triple from Hannah Roney, but that was as close as they would get. | Bucs 65, Panthers 44

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Pink lead Barry with 13 points and added six rebounds and five assists, while not committing a turnover.
  • Ashia Pool added 12 points, while Emma Hergot had a game-high 10 rebounds.
  • Fanny Paulin was the only Panther in double figures with 14 points.
  • Barry led the battle on the glass 41-27 and second-chance points 11-5.
  • The Bucs' bench out-scored the Panthers' 27-9.
  • The Bucs swept the season series from the Panthers for the first time since 2013-14.

The Bucs are back at home on Saturday, Feb. 19 when they host teh Embry-Riddle Falcons.
