MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University men's basketball team defeated the Cavaliers of Walsh University on Cesar Odio Court, 87-75, in non-league action Friday afternoon. Malik Stanley led six Buccaneers in double figures with 17 points, all but five coming in the second half. Stanley had been scoreless in the first half until his free throws at 4:17 gave Barry a 40-25 lead; he hit his first of two threes a minute later for the largest Buccaneer advantage, 45-25. The Buccaneers improve to 4-3 overall while Walsh evens its record at 5-5.

The Indianapolis sophomore made all seven free throws on the afternoon as Barry shot 83.3 percent from the line (20-of-24). Haynes started the second half with a dunk and a free throw. Walsh started the period making one of its first four free throws while finishing the game with makes on their final 11 trips to the charity stripe. Both Stanley and Toles made all free throws after getting fouled from long distance. Stanley's 3-pointer gave the Buccaneers their largest second-half lead, 70-51.
