ROME, Ga. -- The Barry Buccaneers opened the season with a resounding 85-47 win over the host Shorter Hawks in a regional women's basketball game at the Winthrop-King Centre on Friday night.

NOTEWORTHY:
- The win was the biggest for the Bucs since beating Johnson & Wales 86-46 on Nov. 28, 2015 and the most in a season-opener since an 86-50 win over St. Augustine's last season.
- Pink led three Bucs in double-figures with 16 points. Chiara Fusari added 12 and Thornton had 11.
- Tylia Kemp was the only Hawk in double-figures with 10 points.
- Barry shot over 60 percent from the floor in each of the first three quarters, before cooling off in the fourth. The Bucs shot 54.2 percent from the floor and 50 percent (6-for-12) from three-point range.
- The defense held the Hawks to 31 percent shooting, including 17.4 percent (4-for-23) from three-point range, and Forced 19 turnovers.
- Barry out-scored Shorter 46-24 in the paint and 57-29 off the bench.
