MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- It was a tale of two halves as the Barry Buccaneers defeated the Florida Tech Panthers 68-54 in the season opener on Cesar Odio Court Wednesday night.

- 1Q - The Panthers got off to a red-hot start, taking a 10-point lead in the first four minutes. Severine Uggen had 11 points. Camilla Flefil hit a thriple with 0:03 second left to cut the Panther lead to seven. | Florida Tech 20, Barry 13
- 2Q - Barry mounted a comeback early in the second quarter, cutting the lead to three on a layup by Ashia Pool with 8:54 remaining. But the Panthers push the lead back to double figures, taking their biggest lead of the half, 35-21, at the 4:13 mark on another Uggen three-pointer. | Florida Tech 39, Barry 26
- 3Q - The Bucs regrouped at halftime, though, and came out with a vengeance in the second half. Uggen hit another three to start the period, giving Tech a 42-26 advantage, but from there is was all Bucs. Chiara Fusari had 13 points to key a 26-4 run over the final 8:03 of the period. Charlotte Armstrong hit a jumper in the lane to give Barry a 48-46 lead, their first of the game. - 4Q - The fourth quarter was more of the same for the Bucs. The defense clamped down on the Panthers, holding them to just 2-of-18 shooting in the period and eight points.  The cooled off from the floor, after scoring 26 points in the third, but still put up a well-balanced 16 points in the fourth. | Barry 68, Florida Tech 54
NOTEWORTHY:
- Fusari led everyone with 21 points, including 15 in the second half as the Bucs completed their comeback. She added a team-high six assists, three rebounds and two steals.
- Emma Hergot chipped in 11 points and a team-high nine boards. Ashleigh Pink and Pool both added nine points.Â
- Uggen led the Panthers with 19 points, but was just 2-for-11 from the floor in the second half, 1-of-9 from three-point range.
- The win gave head coach Kristina Baugh a win in her first game as Barry's head coach.
