MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers extended their winning-streak to 10 games after a 80-63 win over the Tampa Spartans inside the Health & Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. The win keeps the Bucs in sole possession of first place in the Sunshine State Conference standings.
The 10-game win streak is only the third double-figure winning streak in the programs history and the first since the 2014-15 season, which is the programs longest winning streak at 11.

WHAT ARE THEY SAYING:
SUMMARY:
- Jake Kakar came out of the locker room firing for the Buccaneer offense, scoring eight of his teams first 10 points. He finished the half with 11 points on 3-for-4 shooting from behind-the-arc. The Buccaneers held the Spartans scoreless for just under five minutes at the end of the half, until a Pat Bacon jumper at the 1:10 mark ended the scoreless streak.
- Johannes Dolven came close (10 points & nine rebounds) to a double-double in the first half.
- Barry opened up the second half on a 19-6 run to lead by 20 over the Spartans, but Tampa would not roll over just yet going on their very own 10-0 run to cut the Barry lead to 56-46 with 13:25 remaining.
- The Buccaneers continued their dominance on the glass in the second period, outscoring the Spartans 14-2 in second chance points.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Barry out-rebounded the Spartans 50-33 which should not come as a surprise because UT came in dead-last in the SSC in rebounds-per-game (33.2).
- Tylan Birts continued his second half scoring flurrys, with 11 of his 16 points coming in the second period. Birts, along with Johannes Dolven secured double-doubles for the Bucs. Dolven finished with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. In his last two games, the 6-9 senior is averaging 15.5 points and 13.5 rebounds.
- Kakar continues to increase his shooting percentage from the field. In his last five games, he is shooting 53 percent on 31-for-58 shooting.

The Bucs are off until a week from today, when they travel to the Bowman Center to take on the Saint Leo Lions (9-5, 3-3 SSC) on Saturday, January 18th. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
