Softball Loses Early Lead; Falls to Columbus State 8-7

The Cougars walked off on a home run in the seventh inning. They hit three total HRs against the Bucs.

COLUMBUS, GA. -- The Buccaneers gave up an early five run lead in a 8-7 loss over Columbus State during day one of the 2019 CSU Classic.

SUMMARY:

  • T1 - Lynsey Duncan started things off right for the Bucs with a double through the left side. Savannah Starling and Andrea Johnson each drew walks, loading the bases for Fallon Dragich. The Bucs catcher capitalized on the opportunity with a double to right field that plated two for Barry. Later in the inning, Jordyn Petty also doubled scoring two more runs and then scored on an error by the Cougars. | Barry 5, CSU 0
  • B1 - Columbus State answered the Bucs' big inning with their first of three home runs. | Barry 5, CSU 2
  • T2 - Duncan doubled for the second consecutive time to start the inning. The Bucs would pick up two more thanks to another CSU error that allowed Johnson and Peyton Rawls to score. | Barry 7, CSU 2
  • B3 - Another CSU home run cut the Barry lead to three. | Barry 7, CSU 4
  • B7 - After tying the game in the fifth inning, the Cougars hit a walk-off home run. Their third of the game. | CSU 8, Barry 7
NOTEWORTHY:
  • Duncan went 4-for-4 against the Cougars. It is her first four hit game in her career. 

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs continue play in the 2019 CSU Classic with two games in Columbus, GA. The first game against Coker is scheduled for 9:00am and game two is set for 5:00pm against Bellarmine.
