Women's Hoops Takes Down The Tars

The Bucs notched their second win-in-a-row with a 72-69 win over the Tars

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- After a five game losing streak to end January and begin February, the Bucs are once again back on the right path with back-to-back wins to their name after Saturday's 72-69 triumph over the Rollins Tars in the Health & Sports Center.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Tars forward Tianna Rosser made her presence felt early, scoring eight points in the paint to put Rollins ahead by five.  | Rollins 18, Barry 13
  • 2Q - An interesting turn of events took place early in the quarter when Carly Mclendon went to line, rebounded her own miss on the second attempt before getting fouled again and sent back to the line. The interior offense of the Tars was giving the Bucs trouble late in the period. | Rollins 32, Barry 20
  • 3Q - The Bucs came out of the locker room on fire, ripping off a 14-6 run to start the quarter, fueled by six points from Nichel Tampa and five points from Juhnae Richardson | Rollins 46, Barry 45
  • 4Q - The fourth quarter was close the entire period and resulted in Barry having the ball down by three with 1:37 on the clock. Harriet Swindells converted on a shot from downtown on the next possession which tied the game. | Barry 61, Rollins 61
  • OT - A six-point deficit going into the last possession proved insurmountable for the Tars despite a buzzer beater from deep from Jaylyn Harrison. | Barry 72, Rollins 69

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Three different Buccaneers scored in double-figures with Tampa leading the charge with 19 points on 7-18 shooting. She also had a season-high seven steals.
  • Ida Andersson nearly had her third double-double of the season but fell one point short with 9 points and 11 rebounds on the day. Richardson added 17 points.
  • The Bucs posted capitalized on a physical game, converting 19-of-25 free throws.

ON THE HORIZON:

Next up the Bucs will travel to West Palm Beach, Fla., to take on Palm Beach Atlantic inside Rubin Arena on Wednesday.
