SARASOTA, Fla. – Barry's varsity 8 boat competed in day one of the FIRA Championships on Friday, and qualified for the finals taking place on Saturday.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
"Today was a good warm up for the V8, especially being able to qualify for the finals in some challenging weather conditions," assistant coach Nick Johnson said. "We hope that the wind is a little calmer in our next races, but either way we will make sure that the V8 and the V4 are fully prepared for what they will be up against on the water tomorrow."
SUMMARY:
- The Bucs finished their two-kilometer race in 6:57.0, which was good for second in their heat, and qualified them for the finals taking place tomorrow.
- Barry finished with the third fastest time on the day, behind Florida Tech who finished in 6:51.3, and the University of Central Oklahoma who crossed the line in 6:44.8.

ON THE HORIZON:
The varsity 8 and varsity 4 boats will both race on Saturday in one final race each. The V8 will race at 8:24 am, and the V4 will hit the water at 12:50 pm.
