MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers split their Sunshine State Conference softball doubleheader with the Nova Southeastern Sharks, taking the series two game to one, at Buccaneer Field on Saturday. The Bucs won game one 9-3, but fell in the finale 6-2.

SUMMARY:
Game 1
- T-2nd - The Sharks struck first in game one, scoring twice in the second inning. Sydney Lageyre and Mary Acosta each had RBI singles.
- B-2nd - The Bucs took the lead in the bottom of the inning, with the help of some shaky defense by the Sharks. Geneva Santos led off with a single and, with one out, Peyton Rawls reach on an error by Sharks' third baseman Lexie Storrer. Sam Busekrus dropped down a perfect squeeze bunt to score Santos and reached as the Sharks tried for the play at home. Cheyanne Head singled to drive in pinch runner Anieliese Palmiero. With two outs, Jasmine Harris singled to left center to drive in Busekrus, but Head was gunned down at the plate by Dana Edmundson.
- T-3rd - Megan Granitto knocked in Edmundson to even the game.
- B-3rd - The Bucs took the lead for good in the third. Kristina Osorio led off with a double down the left field line. Santos had a bunt single and stole second. Catie Falcon squeezed in Osorio and Rawls squeezed in Santos.
- B-6th - The Bucs poured it on in the sixth. Osorio drew a bases-loaded walk to force in Alayna Gallagher. Santos ripped a two-run double and scored ahead of a single by Busekrus.
Game 2
- T-4th - After three scoreless innings, the Sharks scored four runs in the fourth. Megan Maloney and Lagayre each had RBI triples. Lagayre scored on a wild pitch and Acosta, who walked, stole third and and scored when the throw went into left field.
- T-5th - The Sharks tacked on a pair in the fifth. Lagayre and Acosta both drew bases-loaded walks.
- B-6th - Barry scored twice in the sixth. Gallagher led off with an infield single. Lynsey Duncan followed with an RBI triple and Harris knocked in Duncan with a single up the middle.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Santos (1-0) earned the win in game one with five innings in relief of Palmiero. She allowed one run on four hits and struck out two.
- Granitto took the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks in 2.1 innings.
- Storrer (4-4) went the distance in the finale for the win. She allowed two runs on six hits.
- Christie Falcon (1-4) took the loss with three runs on five hits in 3.1 innings.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs travel to Columbus, Ga., for the Cougar Classic Mar. 3-5.
