MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University women's basketball team made a big fourth quarter comeback, but came up a bucket short in Wednesday's 88-86 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic.
The Buccaneers trailed by 12 with 7:30 to go, but took a one-point lead on a pair of Elin Ekdahl free throws with 48 seconds remaining to take the lead, but the Sailfish scored the game's final three points in a game that featured 17 lead changes and four ties.

SUMMARY:
- 1Q - The Bucs took a 20-17 lead on Ayida Peters' layup at the 2:37 mark. Both teams traded leads twice more the rest of the quarter. Barry went up 22-21 on Lexy Schoonover's basket with 39 seconds remaining, but Taylor Buchanan answered for the Sailfish.
- 2Q - Palm Beach Atlantic built a five-point lead it was able to maintain most of the quarter. Ekdahl hit a jumper with 1:16 remaining to pull the Bucs within three. Neither team scored the rest of the half.
- 3Q - The Sailfish opened up a 10-point lead after the break. The Buccaneers cut it to eight on a layup by Kiara Palmer at the 4:57 mark. Rachael Holehouse answered with a three to bump the Sailfish lead out to 61-50. Lauren Seyranian's 3 helped the Buccaneers pull within seven, but PBA extended the lead back to 11 at the 1:04 mark.
- 4Q - The Bucs battled back from a 75-63 deficit, cutting it to one on Julia Paulin's triple with 1:16 to go. Ekdahl's two free throws put the Buccaneers ahead, but the Sailfish came up with the final answer on the offensive end.
NOTEWORTHY:
- The Buccaneers shot 57.9 percent from the field.
- Palmer scored a career-high 25 points, and grabbed 10 rebounds. It was her second double-double of the season.
- Barry was 12 of 22 from the free throw line. Palm Beach Atlantic sank 17 of 22.
- Paulin had a season-high three blocks.
