Jake Castro

Jake Castro joined the Buccaneers as an assistant coach with women’s soccer in the fall of 2025, bringing NCAA Division I and USL Championship experience along with a strong background in player development, performance analysis, and scouting.

Before arriving at Barry, Castro was part of the coaching staff at Florida International University, where he helped on the program’s journey from the bottom eight percent nationally to the top 27 percent in Division I rankings. During his first season at FIU in 2023, the program experienced a historic transformation — reaching the Conference USA Playoffs for the first time in a decade, while recording the most goals scored, the fewest goals conceded, and a program-best seven All-Conference selections. His impact extended across the roster, contributing to the development of C-USA Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year Noemi Paquin, C-USA Defensive Player of the Year Reagan Bridges, three First Team All-Conference selections, and five Second Team All-Conference selections.

Castro also contributed significantly within the academy at Miami FC before stepping into the first-team environment in 2024 under Antonio Nocerino, where he supported the staff in analysis and goalkeeper development while helping bridge academy talent into the professional setup. In addition to his on-field coaching, he led a team of analysts in performance, data, and scouting analysis that played a major role in FIU’s success. Several of those analysts have since moved on to full-time roles in professional scouting and NCAA Division I coaching, reflecting his passion for mentoring both players and staff.

That same commitment to development is central to his role as Director of Coaching at Hollywood FC, where he oversees staff and player growth through long-term development pathways. Castro earned his Bachelor of Science in Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He is a UEFA A License candidate through the Football Association of Wales and holds a UEFA B License.

Now at Barry, Castro is eager to help bring a strong footballing culture to the program in Miami Shores, combining his experiences at the youth, collegiate, and professional levels to elevate both the players and the team environment.
