JV Baseball Wins Convincingly In 6 Innings

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- After earning their first victory of the season on Monday, the Barry Buccaneers JV squad followed up with a convincing win today against TNXL Miami by a score of 23-2 that ended in six innings on a Wednesday afternoon at Feinbloom Field in junior varsity baseball action.

  • T1 - Alejandro Coto tripled to deep center field to bring home Jayden Ramirez. Shortly after, Coto was brought home on a sacrifice fly from Jacob Williams. | TNXL Miami 2, Barry 0
  • B1 - Matthew Cox got the scoring started for the Bucs, doubling to deep center field, scoring Frank Planer. Cox was brought home shortly after from a Preston Haase single through the left side of the infield. After Barry loaded the bases, Haase scored on a wild pitch by Luis Lopez. Chino Palomino capped off the first inning with a single to first base, scoring Luis Sousa. | Barry 4, TNXL Miami 2
  • B2 - Aquiles Arzeno knocked a single through the left side of the infield to score Will Myers and Ian Hurt. Matthew Cox hit his second double in two innings, this time to right center, scoring Arzeno. Adrian Couce singled through the right side to score Cox and Haase. | Barry 9, TNXL Miami 2
  • B3 - With the bases loaded early in the third, Cox found his way back on the bases after he drew a walk to bring home Hurt. Arzeno scored his second run of the inning by scoring on another wild pitch, this time from Max Aspuru. After bases were loaded again, Couce was hit by a pitch, scoring Cox, and Sousa followed up by scoring on another wild pitch shortly after. | Barry 13, TNXL Miami 2
  • B4 - Barry stayed patient as they worked their way on base with walks and singles. Another walk by Cox with the bases loaded scored Hurt. Sousa brought in Planer and Arzeno with a single down the first baseline. | Barry 16, TNXL Miami 2
  • B5 - Arzeno brought home Will Myers on a sacrifice fly to center field to start the scoring in the fifth. Hurt advanced home on yet another wild pitch from TNXL Miami. Cox tallied his third double of the day off the left field wall to score Planer. After reaching third, Cox scored on a wild pitch. With bases loaded again, Vynn Buerosse drew a walk to score Haase. Hurt followed up with another walk to Sousa, and Planer was hit by a pitch shortly after to bring home Tony Gil. | Barry 23, TNXL Miami 2

NOTEWORTHY:

  • George Stringos (1-1) earned his first win of the season for the Bucs, allowing two runs on three hits, six strikeouts, and two walks in 5.0 innings.
  • Luis Lopez (0-1) took the loss for TNXL Miami, giving up nine runs on eight hits, three walks, and just one strikeout in 1.2 innings. 
  • Matthew Cox had himself a day, going 3-for-3 with three doubles, two walks, and five RBI. 
  • Arzeno, Cox, and Couce all drove in three or more runs for the Bucs.
  • Six different Bucs scored three or more runs.

The Buccaneers look to avenge their loss earlier in the season against the Florida National Conquistadors for some more JV baseball action on Monday, March 2, at 3:30 PM.
