Šarenac Brings Good Size To Men's Basketball

6-10 Serbian brings depth to frontcourt

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University men's basketball team announced the addition of Marko Šarenac to the roster for the 2025-26 season.

"Marko presents a unique combination of post and perimeter skill," head coach Justin Furr said. "We view Marko as someone who can play in a variety of different actions on the offensive end.  His ability to space the floor from the post position is a good fit for the way we want to play.  Defensively, his versatility will allow us to guard ball screens in multiple ways, as well as give us the option to switch when needed. We're excited for Marko and his family to join us in The Shores!"

A 6-10 forward from Zrenjanin, Serbia, Šarenac was previously with NCAA Division I Weber State in Idaho for two seasons. He played in 44 games across the two seasons, with solid results. In the limited minutes Šarenac produced a stat line that equates to 12.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.4 steals, per 36 minutes.

Šarenac is a reliable shooter inside the arc, knocking down 50 percent from the field. His play off the bench was critical in Weber State going 20-12 during his freshman year.

"I chose Barry because, from the very beginning, I felt support, trust, and positive energy," Šarenac said. "Every conversation with Coach Furr made me feel welcome and confident that this is the right place for me. He showed that he believes in me not just as a player, but also as a person. I truly believe Barry is a place where I can grow, improve, and become the best version of myself. I'm ready to work hard and give everything I have for this team!"

The Buccaneers are coming off a 12-17 season and a Sunshine State Conference Tournament appearance.
