Volleyball Loses Tuesday Action to Sailfish

Barry drops season series to PBA

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.   Barry traveled up north to Rubin Arena to continue their second round of Sunshine State Conference action but fell in four sets to Palm Beach Atlantic. The Sailfish sweep the season series over the Buccaneers for the first time since 2021.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: #2 Barry 1, Palm Beach Atlantic 3
Records: Barry (18-3, 11-3 SSC), PBA (19-6, 9-5 SSC)
All-Time Series: PBA leads series 22-18

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Set One - The Sailfish opened the match with a 3-0 lead that gave them early momentum. AA 6-0 run near the end of the set put it out of hand with a 23-16 advantage. Despite having three blocks in the set, PBA had 16 kills and hit .414 in the set, compared to the Buccaneers .273 with just 10 kills. | PBA 25, Barry 19
  • Set Two -  Veronika Eremeeva was able to grab the first point in the second set as Barry was looking to even the match. The Bucs held a 15-14 slight advantage before a Sailfish timeout flipped the script in the set as they scored four straight points. A 4-1 run ended the set for PBA as they took a 2-0 match lead. Thee offense struggled once again having just nine kills in the set and hitting .125. | PBA 25, Barry 18
  • Set Three - With their backs to the wall, the Bucs continued to fight to take it one set at a time. They did so as they won the third set to stretch the match and send it to a fourth set. After a tie at six, Barry was able to grasp on to a 5-1 run that gave them enough space to carry the rest of the way. Barry went on to hit .538 in the set with 16 kills, with two blocks. Eremeeva had eight kills and hit .800 to lead the way. | Barry 25, PBA 21
  • Set Four - Looking to force a five setter, the four set was a fought out battle that saw 17 ties and nine lead changes. The Sailfish had the one point advantage in the end that carried to the end after 23-22 to score on back to back kills. The Bucs had 15 kills to PBA's 19, three service errors would be the difference in the set. | PBA 25, Barry 21
