Senior Day Sweep For Volleyball

Bucs get fourth straight win on senior day

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.   Prior to today's match, Barry Women's Volleyball honored two senior liberos in Gaia Riedmüller and Kennedy Conrad. Joining them was student manager Kajani Singleton. All three seniors joined the program last season. The Buccaneers swept Rollins to extend their win streak to four in a row, it is the sixteenth time Barry has swept the season series over the Tars.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Set One - The Buccaneers had a tremendously efficient first with a 81-percent sideout putting down nine of the 11 Tars serves. Valeriya Kozlova had a busy set with four kills, six digs, a block and a service ace. the defense had three blocks and forced three Rollins players and the overall team to hit negative. Varvara Osychenko and Veronika Eremeeva were the only two other Bucs to collect a kill in the set. Barry had three service aces, two coming from Eremeeeva, while on the receeption end perfectly passed all 11 attempts. | Barry 25, Rollins 11
  • Set Two - Barry trailed for the first time in the match as Rollins got the first point of the set. A four point run quickly countered that and put the Bucs ahead. Barry cruised in the second set once again as they looked ahead for their 10 sweep. Ivana Žujovic joined he offensive attack with three kills as the team hit .429 with just two errors. The Bucs added five service aces in the est and Eremeeva once again had two, this time in back-to-back serves. It was another great reception set, successfully passing all 13 serves. On the sideout, Barry flipped 12 of tthe 16 opportunites for 75-percent. | Barry 25, Rollins 15
  • Set Three - It was a different set for Barry as they trailed for a majority of it up until nearly the end at 21-23. Osychenko came up in the clutch with back-to-back kills to make it 23-all. Žujovic then teamed up with Osychenko for a block and match point. Rollins picked up a big block to tie thing up at 24, but McKayla Theleus called game with back-to-back kills. There were 15 score ties | Barry 26, Rollins 24

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Valeriya Kozlova had her 13th straight double-digit kill performance with a match-high 12.
  • She ended with six kills in the third set.
  • Veronika Eremeeva and Varvara Osychenko each had nine kills in the match.
  • Eremeeva had her third career five-ace match.
  • Thalia Iglesias continues to quarterback the offense with 23 assists.
  • Barry successfully passed all 44 serves with zero reception errors for the first time this season and first since November 11, 2024. 
  • The defense had seven blocks as Ester Pushkarov led the way with five.
  • Statistically, the Bucs won every category statistically, dominating in service aces 9-0.
  • Barry has won or tied every series since 2018 over Rollins.

UP NEXT:

The Buccaneers will have a three game road stint next week, looking to avenge their loss to Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday, November 4th in West Palm Beach.
