ORLANDO, Fla. - The Barry Buccaneers, were picked to finish eighth in the 2025-26 Sunshine State Conference Pre-Season Coaches' Poll. The Bucs will be led by Coach Justin Furr in his first season at the helm.

The league men's basketball coaches picked Nova Southeastern to repeat as league champions for the fifth straight season. The Sharks received 10 of the 11 eligible first-place votes. Palm Beach Atlantic was tabbed fifth with 58 points, collecting the final first-place vote. Barry collected 49 points in the poll and trailed Nova Southeastern, Florida Southern, Tampa, Lynn, Palm Beach Atlantic, Rollins, and Embry-Riddle. Coming behind the Bucs in the poll is Saint Leo, Eckerd, and Florida Tech.

Barry finished last season 12-17 overall and 8-12 in SSC play taking the eight-seed at the Sunshine State Conference tournament.

The season opener is scheduled for Friday, November 14th against Montevallo at the SSC/GSC Crossover hosted by Nova Southeastern at Rick Case Arena.
