Stephanie Stallings Walker was the first dual-sport, dual-scholarship athlete in Barry history. She earned four letters in soccer, earning All-State honors three times, and was named to the ISAA National Senior Recognition team, and was a two-time National Sports Festival participant, winning gold in 1985. During her Buccaneer softball career, she was a two-time All-South selection and a pre-season All-American in 1989. Stephanie finished her career ranked in the top five in several Barry softball career categories.
The 1986 and 1987 Barry Female Athlete of the Year, Stephanie is one of the few collegiate athletes to start in two different NCAA national championship tournaments in the same year. She was a member of the seventh place women’s soccer team in 1987 and the softball team that finished 12th in NCAA Division II in the spring of 1988. Highly active in the community, Stephanie served as the director of computer services for Barry Student Services. She helped run the Punt, Pass and Kick competition at the NFL Experience during Super Bowl XXIX in Miami and served as the president of the Broward Women’s Soccer League, the largest affiliated league in Florida.
