A four-time NFCA Scholar All- American, Shyla Rider was a back-to-back Sunshine State Conference Female Scholar- Athlete of the Year in 2008 and 2009, one of only two women to win the award in consecutive years (Barry’s Greta Trotman 2005 and 2006). She was also named the South Region Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association in 2008. A four-time All-SSC selection, Rider concluded her Barry softball career ranked among the school’s leaders in number of statistical categories. She ranks first in hits (254), total bases (345), and doubles (51). She placed second all-time in runs (148), fourth in walks (77), seventh in on-base percentage (.427), ninth in RBI (115-from the leadoff spot). Rider earned her doctor of pharmacy in 2014 from Ohio State and is currently a board certified psychiatric pharmacist with Columbia VA Medical Center in South Carolina.
