Kyllene Carter was chosen the Honda-Broderick Award winner for NCAA Division II women?s soccer in 1990. She played on Barry’?s first four NCAA Tournament teams, and was named NCAA Division II National Player of the Year in 1990. She helped Barry win its first ever National Championship in 1989, earning NCAA Tournament Offensive MVP honors. She was named All-American in 1989 and 1990, and was chosen for the ISAA Senior Recognition Team in 1990. She was named All-America Team MVP as selected by Soccer America her last two seasons at Barry.
On the field, Carter was a defender, but still scored eight goals –? three were game-winners –? and added nine assists during her career. Her most productive season was 1989 when she tallied five goals and five assists, while leading Barry to an undefeated 17-0-1 record. Carter started all 68 games at Barry, helping the Buccaneers produce a combined 54-10-4 record. Her athletic abilities earned her spots at the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1986 ? while still in high school ? and again in 1990.
