Annie Perez, who attended Barry from 1984-1988, was the university’?s first female All-American. Perez earned that distinction in 1988 when she led the women’?s soccer team to a 12-4-2 mark and a berth in the first-ever NCAA Division II Tournament. Perez participated in the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1986, and was named to the All-Florida Team in 1985, 1987 and 1988. She also was the Team MVP of the Soccer America Team in 1987 and 1988.
Perez was named Barry University’?s Female Athlete of the Year in 1985-86, and again in 1988-89. She ranks ninth on Barry’?s all-time list in points (88), tied for sixth in goals (37) and tied for eighth game-winning goals (9). She finished her career ranked sixth in assists (14). Academically, Perez qualified for the Dean’?s List three times and the President’?s List for a perfect 4.0 GPA once.
