Kyle Brey qualified for the U.S. Amateur after advancing from a qualifying event in New York.
Brey, of Farmingdale, N.Y., will compete in the U.S. Amateur Aug. 14-20 at The Riveria Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California and Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles. Brey tied for the runner-up at Huntington Country Club in Huntington, N.Y. after shooting 140 in a two-day local qualifier.

Mike Anderson, of Parkland, Fla., who completed his Bucs career in May, was an alternate at the Miami Beach qualifier after shooting 139 at La Gorce Country Club.
The U.S. Amateur features the top amateur players from across the country. It is the oldest United States Golf Association Championship, and was created in 1895. It will be played the 7,272-yard, par-70 Riveria Country Club and 6,722-yard, par-70 Bel-Air Country Club. Past champions include Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar and Hank Kuehne. Curtis Luck defeated Brad Dalke, 6 and 4 at last year's championship at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
