DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Barry University's 19th-ranked men's basketball team fell to Palm Beach Atlantic, 97-95, in overtime in the Sunshine State Conference semifinals Saturday at the ICI Center on Embry-Riddle's campus.
The Buccaneers trailed by two with 10 seconds to play before
Elvar Fridriksson sank two free throws four seconds later to tie the game for the ninth time. After PBA turned the ball over, the Bucs had one last crack in regulation, but Fridriksson's off-balance three-pointer was off the mark, sending the game into an extra period.
Kenan Guzonjic scored the first basket in overtime to put the Bucs up two before the Sailfish regained the lead.
Adrian Gonzalez converted a three-point play with 1:57 to go to break the game's 11th tie and give the Bucs an 87-86 lead, but Bakari Warthen hit a field goal in the paint 12 seconds later to give the Sailfish a one-point advantage it would not relinquish.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
"The matchups that they present to us are unique. They're able to put people on certain people ... they're in an unconventional way, they're an outstanding defensive team. I thought we had our chances, but they made just enough free throws, you know, just enough, to put us away."
-- Barry head coach Butch Estes
