Seeded second in the league tournament, Barry fell behind 2-0 in pairs play before sixth-ranked
Ahmed Triki and
Renato Lombardi grinded out an 8-6 win over Pavel Mojha and Ethan Itzkovitz at the No. 1 position.
Triki, who owns the No. 3 national singles ranking, tied the match at 2-2 when he beat Daniel Riggs, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. It was Triki's 13th win of the season all at the top position.
Barry's
Daniel Ventura coasted through the first set in his No. 5 singles match with Itzkovitz, winning 6-0 before drama set in over a call during the second set. Ventura outlasted his Fighting Knights opponent in the second set, winning 7-5. That pushed the Bucs ahead 3-2 in the match.
But Lynn (16-6) picked up points at Nos. 6 and 2 singles to reclaim the lead before closing it out with a win at No. 3 singles. Both the Nos. 2 and 3 singles matches went three sets, and both featured nationally-ranked opponents on both sides of the court.
Barry had not played in 12 days. Its final regular season match with fifth-ranked Armstrong was cancelled for the second time, and the Bucs earned a bye in the first round of this weekend's tournament.
